A Guide to the Flyers Final 10 Games

At this time last season, Flyers fans were doing scoreboard watching for a completely different reason. The Flyers were locked in a battle for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
This season, that ship has long since sailed. With 10 games to go in the 2024-25 season, the Flyers currently sit with the fifth-worst points percentage in the league.
While the games on the ice may have very little meaning for success, the Flyers potential odds in the NHL Draft lottery could shift and become more favorable pending the results of these games.
First, here’s a look at the standings from the bottom, the bottom 10 teams in the NHL:
Team | Games Played | Points |
10. Detroit | 70 | 72 |
9. Boston | 72 | 69 |
8. Pittsburgh | 72 | 69 |
7. Anaheim | 70 | 68 |
6. Seattle | 71 | 65 |
5. Philadelphia | 72 | 65 |
4. Buffalo | 69 | 62 |
3. Nashville | 70 | 60 |
2. Chicago | 71 | 51 |
1. San Jose | 70 | 47 |
Below are the Flyers final 10 opponents:
- Tuesday, March 25 at Toronto
- Thursday, March 27 vs. Montreal
- Saturday, March 29 vs. Buffalo
- Monday, March 31 vs. Nashville
- Saturday, April 5 at Montreal
- Wednesday, April 9 at NY Rangers
- Saturday, April 12 vs. NY Islanders
- Sunday, April 13 at Ottawa
- Tuesday, April 15 vs. Columbus
- Thursday, April 17 at Buffalo
Of the 10 remaining games, the Flyers have four against teams currently holding a playoff spot – Toronto, two with Montreal, and Ottawa. They also face three more teams very much locked into a playoff battle – the NY Rangers, NY Islanders, and Columbus. That leaves just three more games against teams completely out of the playoff picture – two against Buffalo and Nashville.
The two games against Buffalo could hold significant meaning in the lottery odds race. As of Tuesday morning, the Flyers are three points ahead of Buffalo. Buffalo has three games in hand to potentially make up the margin, and two head-to-head meetings against the Flyers. That could easily shift the Flyers into the fourth-best lottery odds.
For the Flyers to get to third, Nashville has some work to do and less time to make up the margin. Nashville trails the Flyers by five points with two games in hand. They also have one head-to-head matchup on March 31.
Similarly, it would take a lot for the Flyers, who have lost 10 of their last 11 games with a 1-9-1 record, to make up ground on the teams in front of them to move higher in the standings and reduce their lottery odds. They are tied with Seattle, but the Kraken have one game in hand. Anaheim is three points ahead. Pittsburgh and Boston are four points ahead. Given their recent results, it’s hard to envision the Flyers making up even a three-point deficit in the standings at this point in the season.
So, Flyers fans should really be keeping a close eye on Seattle, Buffalo, and Nashville over the last few weeks of the season as well.
Another unique aspect of the Flyers schedule is some extended time off. After playing Nashville on March 31, the Flyers next play five days later on April 5 in Montreal. They then get another three days off before playing the Rangers on April 9. Then another two days pass before the Flyers begin the final four games of the season over the following six days.
Having just two games in an 11-day span also allows time for the teams around the Flyers to solidify their positions in the standings further.
Draft position is going to be especially important to the Flyers in the 2025 NHL Draft. Their own first-round pick is poised to be in the Top 5. They also have Colorado and Edmonton’s first-round picks in the draft. The Flyers also have four second-round picks – their own, Anaheim’s, Columbus’, and Calgary’s.
