Flyers Postgame Report: Michkov, Flyers Strike for 7 Against Sabres

In the first game with Brad Shaw behind the bench, the Flyers scored six goals in a win over the Montreal Canadiens. On Saturday afternoon, they did one better.
The Flyers scored twice in the first, twice in the second, and three times in the third, including two power-play goal, in a 7-4 defeat of the Buffalo Sabres at Wells Fargo Center.
Just like on Thursday, the Flyers were on the board first, courtesy of Matvei Michkov. The rookie scored his 23rd goal of the season off a two-on-one at 5:27.
Just 29 seconds later, Jakob Pelletier added his first goal as a Flyer and fifth of the season, finishing off a nice set-up by Owen Tippett to make it 2-0.
The Sabres trimmed the lead to one at 10:57. Jack Quinn got a chance from the slot and beat Sam Ersson for his 12th goal of the season.
Through 20 minutes, shots were 12-6 Flyers.
It took just 1:41 for the Sabres to tie the game. JJ Peterka was on the doorstep for the easy tip-in goal, his 23rd of the season, to make it 2-2.
At 8:13, the Sabres scored on the power play to take the lead. Quinn added his second of the game and 13th of the season to make it 3-2.
The Flyers tied the game back up just over two minutes later, as Michkov finished off a rush with a backhand for his second of the game and 24th of the season.
At 14:11, the Flyers were back in front. Off a turnover, Tyson Foerster set up Noah Cates for his 15th goal of the season to make it 4-3.
Through two periods, shots were 20-13 Flyers.
The Flyers extended the lead to two with a power-play goal at 6:39. Tippett scored his 20th of the season on a one-timer to make it 5-3.
At 10:13, the Flyers essentially put the game away with a one-timer from Foerster for his 18th goal of the season.
Alex Tuch scored a shorthanded goal at 15:05 to cut the lead back to two, but Ryan Poehling restored the three-goal lead with a power-play goal just 29 seconds later.
Ersson made 17 saves on 21 shots in the win. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 25 saves on 32 shots in the loss.
Michkov, Tippett, Foerster, Cates, Poehling and Travis Konecny each had multi-point games for the Flyers. Quinn had three points for Buffalo, while Peterka and Ryan McLeod each had two points.
The Flyers close out a three-game homestand on Monday night against the Nashville Predators at 7 p.m.
