How the game went:
Penn State would have a good scoring chance to start the game, but UConn would open the scoring at 16:51 left in 1st period on a goal from Joey Muldowney for the early 1-0 lead.
Penn State would have 2-3 good scoring chances to get the game tied on the power play in the 1st period before they would finally get the game tied at 1 with a score from Dane Dowiak.

The game would be tied at the end of the 1st period. Going into the second period, it would be a repeat of the first as the Huskies took the 2-1 lead and the Nittany Lions would respond to even things at 2 thanks to JJ Wiebusch.

Heading into the 3rd period, who would make the big play to send their team to the Frozen Four in St Louis?
The Nittany Lions would have more scoring chances. Halfway through the 3rd period, both teams were playing very cautiously and did not want to make the big mistake that would end their season.
Penn State goalie Arsenii Sergeev would make the play of the season and should be a candidate for play of the year for making the save with the puck behind him. Somehow the puck did not go in. The game would head into overtime & the next goal would send one squad to the Frozen Four.
The Nittany Lions would make the play that they will always remember: Matt DiMarsico scores to book their first ever trip to the Frozen Four.
