Flyers vs. Rangers Preview: Final Five

The Flyers were officially eliminated from playoff contention with Saturday’s loss to the Canadiens. Not that it wasn’t expected, but it officially rendered the final five games of the Flyers season meaningless, as they will miss the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
They start that off with one more trip to Madison Square Garden to meet the New York Rangers, a team clinging to any last hope of a playoff appearance.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Ryan Poehling has been on a hot streak, scoring in three straight games, four of his last five, and six of his last eight games. He has seven of his 12 goals on the season in the last eight games. For good measure, Poehling also has three assists in the last eight games.
Artemi Panarin has remained one of the top performers on the Rangers. He has 34 goals and 83 points on the season, including three goals and eight points in the last five games.
Aleksei Kolosov gets the start for the Flyers. Kolosov makes his first start in the NHL since Jan. 2, where he made 22 saves on 26 shots in a loss to Vegas. Kolosov’s last win came on Dec. 12 against Detroit, making 25 saves on 26 shots.
Jonathan Quick gets the start for the Rangers. Quick made 21 saves on 22 shots in a win over the San Jose Sharks on March 29 in his last start. This is just the fifth appearance for Quick since the return from the 4 Nations Face-off.
