By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor Embiid told Giannis he should come play for the Sixers

In the recency of tampering among NBA owners and general managers talking about things they shouldn't be, I'm not so sure if this is allowed or not. I haven't really heard many stories of players getting in trouble for recruiting players to come play for them.

But for Joel Embiid, this is just another part of his outgoing personality. We've seen it many times before with him when he interacts with players via social media or something similar to that. Whether it be Andre Drummond, Lonzo Ball, LeBron James, and now Giannis Antetokounmpo, Embiid just acts like a fun-loving guy in whatever situation that presents itself.

According to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Bucks forward had a brief conversation with Embiid at the NBA All-Star Game, centered around the Greek Freak maybe one day taking his talents to the City of Brotherly Love.

"He told me I should trust the process and come play for Philly," Antetokounmpo said with a chuckle, drawing a laugh. "That was my reaction — I just laughed.”

There doesn't seem like there's much substance here, especially since Giannis took it as a joke, but when Embiid sets his mind to something, he just goes with it. With Embiid and Simmons playing together, there really aren't many other attractive destinations to play basketball. Giannis would fill a weakness the team has at small forward, and why not add one of the NBA's biggest young stars to play with two other NBA young stars.

Antetokounmpo isn't a free agent until the 2021 season, so it would be awhile until something like that could happen, but maybe a trade could be in his future?

Antetokounmpo went on record earlier in the season to say that he has no plans on leaving Milwaukee, because he enjoys playing for a small market team. He doesn't think he'd be the same player if he played in Los Angeles or Miami. I'd imagine Philadelphia may fall into that boat as well.

But Joel Embiid can be persuasive, and who knows what will happen with the Sixers and the future of the organization between now and 2021.
