While the verdict is still out on who will win the NFL MVP and all the other awards tonight during NFL Honors, Carson Wentz was named the 2017 FedEx Air Player of the Year, awarded to the best quarterback of the season.

Wentz threw 33 touchdown passes, and threw for 3,296 passing yards before suffering an ACL tear in Week 15 of the season.

Along with the Air award, FedEx also sponsors a Ground award for the best running back of the season, which was awarded to Todd Gurley of the Rams this year.

Many of the players that win this award in past years have went on to win NFL MVP. Matt Ryan (2016) also won MVP, Aaron Rodgers (2014) won MVP, Adrian Peterson (2012) won MVP, and in 2011, Drew Brees won the FedEx Air Player of the Year Award, yet Aaron Rodgers won the MVP award.

Tom Brady seems to be the favorite to win MVP this year, but never say never when it comes to Carson Wentz.
