A plane registered to former Philadelphia Phillies ace Roy Halladay is confirmed to have crashed Tuesday and left at least one dead.
The Pasco (FL.) Sheriff’s department held a press conference on Twitter, confirming that one body was recovered and saying that the crash is still being investigated.
According to Stan Chamber of WTSP 10 News in St Petersburg, there was one person killed in the accident:
One person was killed Tuesday after a plane registered to eight-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young award winner Roy Halladay crashed into the Gulf of Mexico.
It was not immediately known if Halladay was flying the plane or if he was killed in the crash.
His colleague Ryan Bass was able to confirm that it was Halladay’s plane that crashed:
Authorities have NOT identified ex-MLB star Roy Halladay as the deceased, but fallen aircraft matches tail number https://t.co/quQJ2rDQ0U pic.twitter.com/3UkuVT3puO

The Pasco Sheriff’s department says that more information will be given at a press conference “around 4:30.” This presumably will include the identity of the person who was killed in the crash, and more details on the crash as a whole.
We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
