The Flyers are entering training camp as a generally healthy team, but part of their goaltending depth has taken a hit.
GM Ron Hextall announced on Friday that goalie Anthony Stolarz underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus on his left knee on Thursday and will be out indefinitely.
Stolarz was rehabbing an injury to the same knee throughout the summer, suffered during the Lehigh Valley Phantoms' playoff run last season on the night they clinched a playoff spot. He was expected to start the season with the Phantoms and compete for the starting job there with Alex Lyon.
Stolarz posted an 18-9-0 record and a 2.92 GAA with the Phantoms in 2016-17. He also spent extended time with the Flyers as the backup, but only played in seven games, posting a 2-1-1 record with a 2.07 GAA and .928 save percentage.
The Flyers also protected Stolarz in the Expansion Draft this past offseason.
Training camp begins for the Flyers on Friday, Sept. 15, with rookie camp starting on Monday.
