PHILADELPHIA — Despite a five-run third inning and double-digit hits, the Phillies' offense wasn't able to outmatch that of the Marlins today. Neither starting pitcher made it through more than five innings, allowing a collective 13 earned runs, though 17 were scored in total. Phillies prospect Rhys Hoskins had another big day at the plate, featuring his eighth home run in just 15 games and 53 at-bats.

The Marlins struck first when Marcell Ozuna hit a ground-rule double in the top of the first inning to score Giancarlo Stanton and take an early 1-0 lead.

The Phillies tied the game in the second inning at 1-1 after Rhys Hoskins hit his 8th home run in 15 games.

Stanton replied with a home run of his own, his Majors-leading 47th this season, in the third-inning. Later in the inning, Derek Dietrich singled home Christian Yelich to give the Marlins a 3-1 lead.

Hoskins supplied another two RBI's in the bottom of the third before Tommy Joseph followed up with a three-run home run to complete a five-run inning for the Phillies.

A two-RBI double from Nick Williams in the fourth inning extended the Phillies' lead to 8-3.

A.J. Ellis was able to partially close the deficit with a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

In the sixth inning, Yelich hit a solo homer before J.T. Realmuto hit an inside-the-park two-run home run to complete the Marlins' comeback and tie the game at 8-8.

Realmuto came through again for the Marlins in the eighth inning, driving in Yelich on a sacrifice fly tocenter fieldd to take a 9-8 lead.
