By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor Report: Sixers are sticking to one-year deals in Free Agency

There were a lot of questions facing the Philadelphia 76ers as the NBA heads into the craziest weekend of the offseason tomorrow morning for Free Agency.

The Sixers need shooting help and veteran players that will help guide the younger core more and help the team become more and more complete heading into next season.

However, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the Sixers have decided to be very limited on the free agent deals they give out.

The decision to stick to one-year deals isn't very surprising. In fact, many have said for months that the Sixers should only give out one-year deals in order to preserve the future core and also have extra money when players need to be extended.

One player in particular that Lowe mentioned in his article, was small forward Robert Covington.

The Sixers executed a team option on Covington this offseason, but he will become a free agent in 2018. After he finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting, the Sixers have pretty much found a guy that will be their ideal small forward heading forward. Someone who can play incredible defense, and can shoot from the perimeter is an asset that teams are always looking for.

It's crazy to think that after all these years of Robert Covington being a part of all those "Process" teams, he'd actually be an efficient NBA starter that will likely be extended for big money next summer.

Offering free agents one-year deals will ultimately keep the cap room reasonably high enough to lock up Covington.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the free agents they were targeting, like J.J. Redick and Andre Iguodala, will almost definitely not sign only a one-year deal. Redick will more than likely sign a deal in the 2-to-3 year range, and Iggy could garner around the same age range as well.

The Sixers will need to look at free agents who are more than capable of taking a one-year contract.

Who's down for Jason Terry or Vince Carter? Anyone? Bueller?
