Flyers at 50: Flyer Greats Traded

Flyers history 50

By Mike Watson, Sports Talk Philly staff writer

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Flyers continued on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center, with an Alumni Game between the Flyers and their interstate rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins

Both squads had stars and legends from yesteryear participate in the exhibition. The Flyers team featured three full forward lines from their respective eras.

The infamous "LCB line" of Reggie Leach, Bobby Clarke and Bill Barber skated for the last time together, passing the torch to the younger alumni to carry on.

Next was the lethal line of Brian Propp, Dave Poulin and Tim Kerr, who caused many a headache for opposing goalies in the 1980s.

Last, but not least, the "Legion of Doom" – Eric Lindros, John LeClair and Mikael Renberg  reunited. This line dominated the league for three seasons as a skilled but crushing force in the NHL.

As many Flyers fans know, reuniting is something the Flyers are famous for. Although there are thousands of trades and transactions in their 50-year history, former Flyers seem to find their way back to Broad and Pattison one way or another; with a second stint as a player, or as a coach, a front office job. That was due to the unparalleled love of his players by the team's founder, the late Ed Snider

So to have a little fun and quiz our loyal and knowledgeable fans of the Flyers and Flyerdelphia, these 10 Flyer greats who either played or were honored at the Alumni Game were traded by the Flyers at some point. Match the team they were traded away to. The answers will be posted here after the Flyers-Capitals game later today.
