Well, a win was what the Philadelphia 76ers needed, and a win is what they got on Sunday night. The Brooklyn Nets visited the Wells Fargo Center in search of a victory against one of their biggest division rivals.

The game was fought tooth and nail between the two teams, and it was close throughout. The game was played between two struggling organizations, so a close game was expected by most.

With the Sixers close behind, the Nets led the game through the first and second quarters, outscoring the Sixers 57-54.

Joel Embiid came to play for the Sixers on Sunday, and showed how valuable he is to the team, playing in 27 minutes of action, which ended up being a majority of the contest for the center. Embiid had 33 points and 10 rebounds on the night, adding three blocks, two steals, and an assist to his totals.

Ersan Ilyasova provided valuable minutes from the bench as the team's second-leading scorer on the night with 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and going four of seven from the three-point line.

Robert Covington's 15 points, and Gerald Henderson's 10 points were two highlights for the Sixers starters during the game.

A late surge from the Nets behind Jeremy Lin's 16 points off the bench was proven to be too little too late at the wrong time, as the Sixers held on for the one-point win.

The Nets shot better overall as a team than the Sixers (44.4 FG%), but the Sixers led the categories of 3PT%(42.9%) and FT%(87%).

With the 108-107 home win, the Sixers improve to 6-20 on the season, winning their fourth home game of the year. The Nets fall to 7-18 on the year, with this being their 11th road loss of the season.

The Sixers will play host to the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday December, 20 at 7 p.m. ET.
