As the Philadelphia Flyers close their 50th season in the NHL, it is obviously disappointing without a coveted playoff spot. Flyers at 50: Rick MacLeish Nets His 50th

In the Flyers 5-4 loss in Pittsburgh, history was made for one particular Philadelphia player. The Flyers fourth goal was the 50th on the season for the late Rick MacLeish, the first Flyer to ever score 50 goals in a season.

Flyers at 50: Leon Rochefort Reaches 20-Goal Plateau

In the inaugural season for the Philadelphia Flyers, the roster was full of NHL veterans selected from the 1967 NHL expansion draft. One of those would be the first Flyer to reach the 20-goal plateau wearing the Orange and Black, Leon Rochefort.

Flyers at 50: Al Hill’s 5-Point Debut

It’s a wonderful feat for an undrafted rookie to make it to the NHL. It would be icing on the cake if he were to record a point and get on the scoresheet in his first NHL game. Being called up from Springfield of the AHL, Al Hill was about to make is NHL debut and also Flyers history.

Flyers at 50: The Trade for LeClair and Desjardins

Flyers at 50: Legion of Doom Strikes for 16 Points

The dominance that was the “Legion of Doom” in the late 1990’s for the Flyers was some of the most exciting Flyers hockey in recent memory. On this day, this fabled line was at it again in this tilt against the Montreal Canadiens. Together, they would set a team record with 16 points among them, in a 9-5 drubbing of the Habs.
