Their offense is about as barren as it gets — having scored just six goals over their last five games — yet somehow occupy the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot by a single point.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms played their first home game since the All-Star break on Wednesday night, defeating the Binghamton Senators by a final of 5-0. Five different Phantoms scored goals and helped the team bounce back from their 7-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last Saturday.
Shayne Gostisbehere’s scratching, and Travis Konecny’s two-game benching prior to Monday’s game, left Flyers fans baffled. Dave Hakstol’s response in regards to the lineup is that he is dressing the best 20 players to win hockey games. But is he really? That’s certainly the question on Flyers fans’ minds.
After just one game back in the lineup from his two-game benching, Travis Konecny will miss even more time with a lower-body injury. Konecny is out for four-to-six weeks, as Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced on Tuesday.

The dominance that was the “Legion of Doom” in the late 1990’s for the Flyers was some of the most exciting Flyers hockey in recent memory. On this day, this fabled line was at it again in this tilt against the Montreal Canadiens. Together, they would set a team record with 16 points among them, in a 9-5 drubbing of the Habs.
The Kings came into the game on a four-game winning streak and the Flyers had won four of their last five, so with both teams riding waves of success of late, something had to give eventually in a physical game where space was limited and chances were few and far between.
