Second periods have been a problem of late for the Flyers. On Tuesday in Buffalo, they allowed three goals. On Thursday against Vancouver, they allowed three more. Saturday’s game they did one better, allowing four to the Bruins in a 5-3 loss to Boston on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden.
In honor of the 50th anniversary season for both franchises, the Flyers and Penguins alumni will take the ice at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday night. The Flyers have had alumni games in the past, notably the 2012 Winter Classic and last year’s game in Reading, but this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime game.
It seems like every season, and every meeting, between the Flyers and Bruins holds some sort of meaning, and the same holds true on Saturday afternoon, when the two teams, clinging to playoff spots at the moment, meet for their second of three games this season.
