The Flyers rank eighth in the league in goals per game this season. But problems remain defensively, and they go far beyond goaltending and the blue line.

What started off as a productive weekend has reverted back to another losing skid. The Flyers managed a late goal, but got a very deserved 4-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres as the result of another sloppy and uninspired game.

The Buffalo Sabres potted three goals over the course of the period en route to a convincing 4-1 win.

Wayne Simmonds is going to the All-Star Game. The Flyers lone representative for the 2017 NHL All-Star Game is the 28-year-old forward, who makes his first ever All-Star appearance.

Flyers 2016 first-round pick German Rubtsov had his KHL contract terminated on Monday and will play for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL. The club announced the transaction and believes Rubtsov could be in action as soon as Jan. 19.
