It was 41 years ago today that one of the lasting memories in Flyers history took place. The “Red Army Game” as it has come to be known put the Broad Street Bullies against the best hockey team in the world in the Soviet Union on Jan. 11, 1976.
The Flyers rank eighth in the league in goals per game this season. But problems remain defensively, and they go far beyond goaltending and the blue line.
What started off as a productive weekend has reverted back to another losing skid. The Flyers managed a late goal, but got a very deserved 4-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres as the result of another sloppy and uninspired game.

Flyers 2016 first-round pick German Rubtsov had his KHL contract terminated on Monday and will play for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL. The club announced the transaction and believes Rubtsov could be in action as soon as Jan. 19.
