HB 2765, upon passing a second reading, has been referred to the committees on Consumer Protection & Commerce and Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs for further consideration. However, we can’t tell what will become of this bill until the legislative session, which has been adjourned for 2024, resumes.

Hawaii is one of only two U.S. states where no form of gambling is legal.

• 2018 – The U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 2018. This ruling gave states the autonomy to legalize sports betting at their discretion.
