I t was hardly an uneventful night on Friday night and Day 1 of the NHL Draft for the Flyers. But Day 2 is only going to get busier.
The Flyers have 10 picks still left on Day 2 of the draft, even after their pair of selections in the first round.
The Flyers will pick 44th overall to start the day in the second round, then have two picks in the third round and three picks in the fourth round. They have four picks over the final three rounds as well.
That gives the Flyers 12 total picks in the draft, at least for now, and with Day 2 set to begin with the second round at 10 a.m., here are a few prospects left from Day 1 and projected to go in the middle or later rounds that could be targets for the Flyers.
LW Maxime Comtois – A good role player on the wing with a good shot, good offensive instincts, physical presence and dependable in all zones. Comtois is not a flashy player, but can be effective offensively and has a well-defined two-way game.
RW Jason Robertson – A player with very good size and offensive instincts, Robertson scored 42 goals for Kingston last season and had 81 points in 68 games. His defensive play isn't great, but there is a lot of potential on offense in this kid. He projects to be a second-line sniper who is a natural scoring winger and power play specialist.
D Nate Knoepke – Good size and strength, quality defensive ability and a physical presence on the blue line. Knoepke isn't going to light it up offensively, but he's got the potential to be a quality stay-at-home defenseman.
C Grant Mismash – A competitive, physical power forward with tremendous drive to his game. He can also put the puck in the net, scoring 23 goals in 56 games for the USA U-18 team. He's not a highly skilled player, but has an effective shot and is a strong skater that could provide a boost to an offense.
C Adam Ruzicka – A skilled forward with great size and strength and an excellent shot, Ruzicka has the offensive ability, no question. His compete level without the puck is a problem and he's a below average defender, but his offensive skill set could make him a coveted prospect in the middle rounds.
RW Lukas Elvenes – A good combination of size and skill, Elvenes has a lot of upside, just needs to be developed and molded. He's got dangerous offensive ability and great speed and puck skills, but needs to really develop his defensive game to have a shot at the NHL.
C MacKenzie Entwistle – Much like the Flyers selection of Morgan Frost, this is a smart player with a tremendous hockey IQ. No real weakness to his offensive game, he just needs to bring a high-energy level to every game and do it on a consistent basis. He's also a fairly responsible defensive player.
D David Farrance – A tremendous mobile defenseman with blazing speed and puck skills, this is a skilled defenseman who can help a power play and be sure to join the rush every chance he gets. He does need work defensively and to put on some size, but this is a player that could be a high reward player if developed properly.
G Cayden Primeau – The son of former Flyers captain Keith Primeau, Cayden Primeau has NHL starter potential. He's got good size for a young goalie and doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. He moves well for a tall butterfly goalie and has good control of the game in the crease. He has good recovery, quick instincts and a compete level that give him good upside.
