Matthews was active for just one game while with the team.
His release means that the Eagles again lose a compensatory pick they would have gotten for his being signed by another team.
2019 Eagles Compensatory Pick Chart
QB Nick Foles | Jacksonville Jaguars | $22,000,000 | 3
LB Jordan Hicks | Arizona Cardinals | $9,000,000 | 4
Note: Golden Tate’s pick is reduced to a five because of his suspension for substance abuse.
Matthews also knows the Eagles offense and was arguably the team’s top deep threat down the stretch last season, making him a potential candidate to return to the roster with the Eagles missing DeSean Jackson.
