Earlier in the offseason, the Eagles lost veteran wide receiver Jordan Matthews to the San Francisco 49ers.

On Saturday, the 49ers announced they will be releasing Matthews. The move is a disappointing one for fans of Matthews, but it also has direct consequences on the Eagles franchise.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, none of their lower-level free agents signed with a team in time to affect the compensatory pick formula other than Matthews. The result is that the Eagles will now receive either fourth-round pick from the formula.

The signings of both LJ Fort and Andrew Sendejo are counted as negating seventh-round picks, but the team’s lowest picks to negate are the fourth-round compensatory picks for both Golden Tate and Jordan Hicks.
