The Flyers have been well represented in the World Junior Championships in the past and this year will be no different. In total, seven Flyers prospects will be participating in the World Junior Championships, starting on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
For the last two years, Flyers fans have focused their attention on Team Canada because of Carter Hart's role on Team Canada. This season, the Flyers have one player on Team Canada, but it is once again a top prospect in the system. Morgan Frost will be the Flyers lone representative on Team Canada. Isaac Ratcliffe was a participant in camp but did not make the final roster.
The Flyers are best represented on Team USA. Four Flyers prospects will be part of the US roster, including forwards Joel Farabee, Jay O'Brien, Noah Cates and defenseman Jack St. Ivany.
The Flyers will also have two prospects on Team Sweden. Defenseman Adam Ginning and goalie Samuel Ersson made Team Sweden's final roster.
The World Junior Championships will take place from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. The teams will play Round-Robin style in two groups before the medal round begins. Here is the schedule for the group play.
Wednesday, Dec. 26
- Czech Republic vs. Switzerland – 4 p.m.
- United States vs. Slovakia – 6:30 p.m.
- Canada vs. Denmark – 8 p.m.
- Finland vs. Sweden – 10:30 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 27
- Russia vs. Denmark – 4 p.m.
- Slovakia vs. Sweden – 6:30 p.m.
- Switzerland vs. Canada – 8 p.m.
- Finland vs. Kazakhstan – 10:30 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 28
- Czech Republic vs. Russia – 8 p.m.
- Kazakhstan vs. United States – 10:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 29
- Denmark vs. Switzerland – 4 p.m.
- Slovakia vs. Finland – 6:30 p.m.
- Canada vs. Czech Republic – 8 p.m.
- Sweden vs. United States – 10:30 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 30
- Switzerland vs. Russia – 8 p.m.
- Kazakhstan vs. Slovakia – 10:30 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 31
- Denmark vs. Czech Republic – 4 p.m.
- Sweden vs. Kazakhstan – 6:30 p.m.
- Russia vs. Canada – 8 p.m.
- United States vs. Finland – 10:30 p.m.
Following a day off on Jan. 1, the medal round will begin on Jan. 2, with four quarterfinals games taking place that day. Two days later, the semifinals will take place. Finally, on Jan. 5, the Bronze Medal Game will be played at 4 p.m. and the Gold Medal Game taking place at 8 p.m.
Many of the games, including all Team USA games, will be televised on NHL Network.
