By Matt Gregan, Sports Talk Philly Editor
The Philadelphia 76ers open up their 2019-20 preseason tonight with a game against the Guangzhou Loong-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The following are some pregame notes about the team’s health and rotation for tonight’s preseason opener:
Joel Embiid only expected to play in the first half
According to the Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, superstar big man Joel Embiid will only be playing in the first half against the Loong-Lions. With it being the preseason opener, there is no reason to play Embiid the entirety of the game.
Clues into the 76ers’ rotation in the preseason opener
The 76ers, if you have not already guessed, will not be revealing all the cards in their deck in their preseason opener. According to PhillyVoice’s Kyle Neubeck, fans should expect to see only a semblance of the team’s rotation in the first half before seeing some lesser known bottom of the rotation players play in the second half.
Brett Brown says we should see “a semblance of a rotation in the first half,” and some guys know they won’t be appearing in that half. Second half will feature looks at different guys and allowing starters to get some rest
