Philadelphia, PA – Following a double-header sweep at the hands of the Cubs, the Phillies rebounded with a dramatic ninth-inning walk-off win on Saturday night. This afternoon, veteran right-hander Aaron Harang was in search of his first win since the end of July. Though Harang left with the lead, the Cubs tied the game in the seventh.

The Phillies got the go-ahead run they needed in the bottom half of the seventh, thanks to great hustle from Aaron Altherr. He turned what looked to be a sure double into a triple and then scored on a wild pitch two hitters later to give the Phillies the lead. The rookie outfielder finished the day 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout. Altherr has seven singles, six doubles, three triples and three homers on the year. Freddy Galvis hit a two-run double in the eighth to give the Phillies some insurance heading into the ninth. Ken Giles earned his 13th save of the year, securing the series split, 7-4, against the Cubs.

The Phillies finish the season series 5-2 against the Cubs.

Chicago got the scoring started in the first. After Aaron Harang got the first two outs rather quickly, Chris Coghlan hit a two-out triple. Harang then walked Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant singled to left, scoring Coghlan to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom half of the first, Freddy Galvis and Odubel Herrera hit back-to-back one-out singles. After an Aaron Altherr walk, Ryan Howard plated Galvis with a sacrifice fly to centerfield, knotting things at one a piece. Cameron Rupp gave the Phils the 2-1 lead with an RBI-single, scoring Herrera.

Philadelphia added on two more in the third. Aaron Altherr hit a one-out double and Ryan Howard belted a two-run homer to right field, extending the Phils lead to 4-1. Chicago got a run back in the top of the fourth though, courtesy of an Addison Russell RBI-single to score Starlin Castro.

Chicago inched closer in the fifth as Aaron Harang surrendered a homer to Chris Coghlan, who already had two triples on the day to that point, making it a 4-3 lead in favor of the Phillies. In the seventh, with Dalier Hinojosa on the mound, Addison Russell reached on a throwing error by Freddy Galvis. Two hitters later Kyle Scwarber walked. After a Chris Coghlan flyout advanced Russell to third, Anthony Rizzo hit a chopper to second. Cesar Hernandez couldn't field it cleanly and ended up colliding with Rizzo, allowing Russell to score from third, tying the game at four a piece. Hernandez left the game with dislocated left thumb.

Aaron Altherr hit a one-out triple in the seventh. Following a Ryan Howard strikeout, Altherr scored on a wild pitch by Clayton Richard, making it a 5-4 game. The Phillies tacked on two more in the eighth, both with two outs. After a Brian Bogusevic groundout and a Cody Asche strikeout, Darin Ruf drew a walk. Andres Blanco followed with a single before Freddy Galvis laced a two-run triple to right, extending the Phillies lead to three, 7-4, setting things up for Ken Giles in the ninth. Giles allowed two hits before getting Anthony Rizzo to line out and end the ballgame. He hasn't allowed a run over his last 13 innings and has converted each of his 13 save opportunities since the Phillies parted ways with Jonathan Papelbon.
