The Phillies certainly got their work in offensively last night. With 21 hits as a team and scoring 16 runs, the Phillies ended the first half of the season with a blow out win over the Dodgers. John Lannan pitched seven solid innings, allowing just an earned run on five hits to win his first game in a Phillies uniform. Despite the team's efforts as a whole at the plate, a few Phils had great games including Michael Young (4-for-6, 3 R, 2 RBI), Delmon Young (3-for-6, 1 R, 6 RBI), and John Lannan (3-for-4, 1 RBI). Tonight the Phils will look to take a series lead against the Dodgers behind Cliff Lee (9-2, 2.51 ERA), who will be seeking his 10th win on the year. Opposing Lee and company will be Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-3, 2.85 ERA), who is looking for his first win in June.

Cliff Lee was denied a win in his last time out despite going eight deep against the Padres on Monday. Lee allowed two earned runs on eight hits while striking out 7 hitters before being pulled in the ninth to be relieved by Jonathan Papelbon, who blew the save. Lee has been rolling all summer long, going 7-0 with a 2.00 ERA (17 ER in 76 2/3) in his last 10 starts. Over that stretch Lee has struck out 71 hitters opposed to 11 walks issued. Lee has outstanding numbers against the Dodgers over his career with a 2-1 record and a 0.95 ERA (4 ER in 38 IP).

Hyun-Jin Ryu is winless in the month of June despite a 2.76 ERA in that stretch. In his last time out, the rookie threw 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the Giants, but was given the no-decision as the Dodgers would not break the tie game until the bottom of the eighth inning. The right-hander Ryu can go deep into games and has gone six innings in all but one start this year. Eight of those starts have been at home, where he has a 4-1 with a 1.81 ERA. This will be the Phillies' first time seeing Ryu.

  • Adrian Gonzalez is hitting .563 in 16 at bats against Cliff Lee in his career.
  • In his last three games, Delmon Young is hitting .643 with 1 HR and 8 RBI.
