PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia 76ers have named former NBA veteran power forward Alaa Abdelnaby as their new TV color analyst for the 2015-16 season, starting tonight in preseason action at the Wells Fargo Center against the 2015 NBA Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
Abdelnaby will replace Malik Rose, who left the organization in mid-August to become the manager of basketball operations for the Atlanta Hawks.
CSNPhilly.com writes:
"Abdelnaby, 47, had a five-year NBA career from 1990 to 1995, playing for the Blazers and Celtics before joining the Sixers for three games in his final season. He was a first-round pick in 1990 after a four-year career at Duke in which he made three Final Fours. …
Abdelnaby previously served as an analyst for CBS Sports, Westwood One Radio, and for TNT on Duke's 2015 Final Four teamcast."
Abdelnaby will work alongside veteran broadcaster Marc Zumoff, who is entering his 22nd season as the Sixers' TV play-by-play announcer and his 34th season overall as a part of the broadcast team.
Tonight's 7 p.m. game can be seen on The Comcast Network.
