Major League Baseball appears ready to announce suspensions in relation to the Biogenesis drug lab investiation. Alex Rodriguez, reportedly facing a lifetime ban, appears to have agreed to take a substantial ban and be allowed to return to baseball. ESPN reports:
BREAKING: Alex Rodriguez will be suspended Monday, likely through end of '14 season, sources have told Outside the Lines.

The New York Yankees are really lucky; they will save the remainder of Rodriguez's $28 million salary for the rest of the year and the $25 million due to him next year. Rodriguez's production has been way down in recent years as he has battled injury.
If he had been free of a suspension, Rodriguez could have returned to the Yankees lineup on Monday. Instead, they'll see him in Spring Training 2015. Even with the suspension, the Yankees will owe Rodriguez $61 million for 2015, 2016, and 2017.
