Last night on Philly.com I caught the poll. It asked, "Should Erik Kratz replace Carlos Ruiz when he returns?"
The results were shocking:
But this wasn't the first time I saw from the fans a preference for Erik Kratz over Carlos Ruiz. Here is a comment I saw yesterday on Twitter:
Carlos Ruiz is complete garbage. I hope Erik Kratz plays every day when he comes back.

Erik Kratz is a career .227 hitter. He was hitting .229 when he tore his miniscus and hit the disabled list. What he did have over Chooch is eight home runs in 140 at bats. Ruiz has yet to homer in 116 at bats. Ruiz is hitting .267 and has driven in six runs.
The only other possible explanation for this is the Godshall's Meats turkey bacon commercial. I agree the commerical was cute and all, but I think this is a bit much. If anything, Kratz has given people reason to believe that he can be a competent catcher in the Major Leagues.
If you would like to vote in the Philly.com poll, you can find it here. They remain neck-in-neck.
