It was a quiet day with the bats in Sarasota today as the Phillies and Orioles met for the first time this Spring. While many regulars stayed back in Clearwater, the Phillies lineup featured just Ryan Howard, Cody Asche of the regulars.
On the offensive side, Howard had two hits. Jeff Francoeur, vying for a spot on the Phillies bench, contributed a double. But the only run the Phillies would get would be a solo home run by reserve infielder Andres Blanco.
On the pitching side of things, Aaron Harang got the start. Harang scattered three hits in two scoreless innings. Harang looked somewhat rusty, making his first start after back discomfort kept him from his first scheduled appearance.
Phillippe Aumont gave up one hit but pitched a scoreless third inning before giving way to Adam Morgan. Morgan pitched two scoreless of his own to earn the win. Morgan was followed by one scoreless from Justin De Fratus and another from Paul Clemens.
Luis Garcia came into the ninth looking for the save. Garcia looked impressive, hitting the high 90s on the radar gun. Garcia retired the Orioles 1-2-3 for his first Spring save.
The Phillies return to Clearwater tomorrow to take on the Detroit Tigers at 1:05.
