It took the Boston Bruins half of the first period to score a goal. Once they did, they never looked back.
The first goal of the game for Boston came on their first power-play shot. On their next three power plays in the game, they scored on their first shot as well.
By the end of the first period, Boston had a 3-0 lead, opened it up to 4-0 early in the second and the St. Louis Blues could never recover in a 7-2 Bruins win in Game 3 on Saturday night.
Boston's first goal came on a deflection by Patrice Bergeron on a Torey Krug shot at 10:47 of the opening period.
The Bruins added another goal with 2:20 remaining in the second, as Charlie Coyle started a transition play from his own goal line, then beat Jordan Binnington with a shot to finish off a 3-on-2. With 10 seconds left in the period, Sean Kuraly scored on a low shot that went through the legs of a Blues defenseman and beat Binnington through the five-hole. The Blues challenged the goal for offside, but the play was ruled onside and the Blues were assessed a delay of game penalty.
Just 41 seconds into the second period, David Pastrnak had the Bruins second power-play goal of the game.
The Blues finally got on the board at 11:05 of the second period with Ivan Barbashev taking a feed from Zach Sanford and scoring. The goal was quickly erased by another Bruins power-play goal, this time by Krug at 12:12. That ended the night for Binnington, who made 14 saves on 19 shots.
Colton Parayko got another goal for the Blues on the power play at 5:24 of the third period and the Blues got another power play shortly after that could have allowed them to cut the lead to two. The Blues were 1-for-5 on the power play in the game and played nearly four minutes with an empty net in the final minutes of the game before Noel Acciari scored into the empty cage to make it 6-2. For good measure, Marcus Johansson added another power-play goal with 1:25 remaining to cap the scoring.
Tuukka Rask finished with 27 saves on 29 shots. Jake Allen made three saves on four shots in relief. The Bruins power play was a perfect 4-for-4 in the game.
The Bruins now have a 2-1 series lead through three games. Game 4 is on Monday night at 8 p.m.
