We are just over two weeks into the NHL season and already there are numerous long term injuries to key players across multiple rosters. Last week we highlighted the injuries to Logan Couture and Duncan Keith. Today there are two more names to add to the list.

Already without the services of Paul Stasny for the next five weeks with a broken foot and Patrick Berglund till January with a shoulder injury, the St. Louis Blues lost Jaden Schwartz for the next 12 weeks.

Schwartz suffered a fractured ankle in practice last Friday. The 14th overall pick in the 2010 draft, Schwartz has scored at least 20 goals and registered at least 50 points in each of the last two seasons. He has four assists and no goals so far this season.

Broken Barkov

Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov can also be added to the list. The 20 year old first round pick broke his hand in game last Thursday against Chicago.

Barkov was scratched from Saturday's game against Dallas and it was then announced he would be out indefinitely. He has three goals and three assists in seven games this season for the Panthers.

Chasing History

The Montreal Canadiens have a chance to match history when they take the ice in Vancouver on Tuesday night. If Montreal can get the win against the Cancuks, they will match the 1993-94 Toronto Maple Leafs and the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres for the best start, 10-0-0, in NHL history.

The potential record setting game would be Thursday in Edmonton.
