Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg had just one point going into Friday's game. After their home and home with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he now has six. The Red Wings captain assisted on all four Detroit goals during Friday's 4-1 victory. For an encore, Zetterberg provided some overtime magic, scoring the game's only goal in a 1-0 win.
There was also some great goaltending on display. Of the twenty one games played, one third of them resulted in shutouts. On Friday Vancouver netminder Ryan Miller posted a 28 save shutout. Not to be oudone, Nashville's Pekka Rinne made 31 saves for his. Finally Florida's Roberto Luongo turned in a 26 save peformance. Luongo had to be that good as Buffalo's Jonas Enroth allowed only one goal himself.
Saturday saw two more goalies blank their opponents. Detroit's Jonas Gustavsson made 30 saves for a 1-0 overtime win against Toronto. Boston's Niklas Svedberg made 32 saves in shutting out Buffalo 4-0.
Sunday also saw two more shutouts. Rangers goalie Henrick Lundqvust stopped all 33 shots, handing San Jose their first regulation loss of the season. Frederik Anderson made 27 saves against St. Louis for his first career shutout.
Lastly, the NHL confirmed Friday what was already speculated. It was officially annouced that Nashville will host the 2016 All Star game. This will be the first time in the franchise's seventeen year history that they will host the festivities. Congratulations go out to the entire Predators organization.
