The 3-0-1 record on the trip buys more time for a team that needed to either turn it around quickly or face changes. But this is only the beginning for the Flyers, who can’t be satisfied with the results of one road trip and have more work ahead of them.

The Phantoms opened the month of November with a home-and-home against the Binghamton Devils and split the results, falling in overtime in Binghamton and rallying for a comeback win in overtime on Saturday.

Toronto GM Kyle Dubas was in attendance at the game between the Flyers and Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 22, certainly helping fuel rumors involving William Nylander. In the event that things come to a head with Nylander, the Maple Leafs may explore a trade. And the Flyers could very well be a suitor.

Two goals from Claude Giroux were part of a three-point night for the captain as the Flyers completed a successful road trip with a 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes. 

The fourth and final game of the Flyers road trip comes against the Arizona Coyotes in the first of a home-and-home between the two teams. The Coyotes have been an upstart team, picking up wins in five straight games.

Joe Thornton scored to tie the game with 4:57 left in regulation and Timo Meier scored his second goal of the game just 13 seconds into overtime in a 4-3 Flyers loss to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.

It was just under a month ago that the San Jose Sharks came into Wells Fargo Center and embarrassed the Flyers in their home opener to the tune of an 8-2 drubbing. The two teams meet again in San Jose on Saturday night.

The Flyers got off to a first-period lead for the second straight game and closed strong, putting away the Kings in the third in a 5-2 win on Thursday night.

The Flyers snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday. The Los Angeles Kings snapped a six-game losing streak on Sunday. Which team gets to build on breaking out of their slump. The two face off on Thursday night at 10:30 p.m.

Nolan Patrick’s goal with 1:51 remaining in the third period put the Flyers ahead for good in a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.

The Flyers begin a four-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks, who have lost five straight games and are 2-5-1 after starting the season 3-0-1 through four games. Game time is at 10 p.m.

This week, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms posted two strong victories before suffering a loss on Sunday afternoon.

There are times now where it seems Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol has given up on trying to find the positive spin on games, sounding more like a coach defeated than a coach with an overabundance of positivity. Maybe that’s because there is nowhere to hide anymore. Is it time for a change?

The Flyers recalled forwards Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Tyrell Goulbourne from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Forward Mikhail Vorobyev was sent down and forward Corban Knight, who left Saturday’s game in the first period, was placed on injured reserve.

It was more of the same for the Flyers, who allowed the first goal again and never recovered in a 6-1 loss to the New York Islanders at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Flyers get a chance to rebound against the New York Islanders, a team still trying to find an identity after losing their captain via free agency in the offseason. Game time is at 1 p.m.

It took 33 minutes for the Bruins to strike, but Zdeno Chara’s goal to open the scoring was the only one needed in a 3-0 Flyers loss to the Bruins on Thursday night at TD Garden.

Getting back on the right side of the win column won’t be easy against one of the NHL’s best and most dangerous lines. The Flyers face the Bruins in Boston at 7 p.m.

More than any specific aspect of the game, slow starts have been a consistent problem for the Flyers and not just this season. In fact, the numbers under the Flyers’ current regime of Ron Hextall, Dave Hakstol and all the players of this core show that it’s a trend.

The Flyers have struggled with execution and are struggling to be consistent at anything other than being consistently inconsistent. It’s the same old song and dance that is maddening to Flyers fans. “I’m a pretty patient guy,” GM Ron Hextall said Tuesday, “but things need to start going better here.”

While the Flyers honest answers about their play has been refreshing, it doesn’t serve as a substitute for putting in the work and addressing the problems at hand.

The Phantoms had their first 3-in-3 weekend and posted a 1-1-1 record over the weekend, with the team losing both of Carter Hart’s starts and getting a win in the season debut for Alex Lyon.

Flyers forward Michael Raffl will be out for four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury, GM Ron Hextall announced on Tuesday.

On nights like these, you see that the Flyers have a work issue. It’s selective, turned on and off like a switch. It’s a big reason the team is as inconsistent as it gets. That’s a team-wide problem from coaching to players that will get them in trouble in the standings fast.

Colorado outworked the Flyers for the better part of 40 minutes, before the Flyers late push ultimately fizzled into nothing in a 4-1 loss to the Avalanche on Monday night.

The Flyers get a chance at a win in a rematch on Monday night, hosting the Avalanche to close out the season series. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
