Another member of the 2010 Eastern Conference Championship team is hanging up the skates for good. Scott Hartnell, a Flyer for seven years of his 17-year career, announced his retirement on Monday.

The Flyers announced the final 23-man roster to start the 2018-19 season on Sunday.

Forwards Cole Bardreau, Greg Carey, Phil Varone and Danick Martel as well as defenseman T.J. Brennan were placed on waivers on Friday. Martel was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Lightning while the other four cleared, bringing the Flyers roster to 36 players.

The Flyers got off to another good start in Friday’s game, but the finish was hardly similar to the previous three games. Ryan Pulock scored the game-winning goal on a one-timer in overtime to give the Islanders a 3-2 win over the Flyers at PPL Center on Friday night.

For just the second time this preseason, the Flyers will be the home team. The game takes place in PPL Center, home to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, for the fourth annual preseason meeting in Allentown. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Flyers cut 11 players from the training camp roster, bringing the roster to 41.
