Danick Martel has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Flyers, worth $715,000, according to a report by Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

The Flyers kept some depth in the system on the blue line, signing defenseman Reece Willcox to a two-year, two-way deal on Thursday.

The Flyers have signed Christian Folin to a one-year deal, Hextall announced on Thursday morning. Terms of the deal have not been released.

With no short-term options available in the free agent market or through a trade at this time, the Flyers focus shifts to internal options for filling out both the bottom-six forward group and defensive pairings.

The Flyers had a need for a scoring winger and got one in James van Riemsdyk. “We felt with the fit, we needed size, we needed goal scoring, we needed a left winger,” GM Ron Hextall said. “This one just fit all around for us and I think James felt the same way.”

Right now, the James van Riemsdyk signing means that the Flyers were willing to spend to make upgrades. Make no mistake, Ron Hextall made a statement with this move. The Flyers are ready to be players on the market, not just on draft weekend.
