With two more picks available in Friday’s first round, the draft remains a priority for the Flyers. The Flyers announced their preseason schedule on Friday, with eight games set for the preseason.

Assuming the Flyers hold onto both picks, the team has a great chance to build their prospect pool even more. It is reportedly a deep draft, and recent history suggests that good prospects and potential future NHL stars can be had in the middle of the first round.

In his pre-draft media availability on Thursday, Hextall did say that right now, the plan is to keep and use both picks.

The Capitals stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and never looked back, taking Game 4 by a score of 6-2 to take a 3-1 series lead on the Vegas Golden Knights. The win puts Washington one win away from their first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history.

In total, there were five lead changes and four ties throughout a wild series opener between the Vegas Golden Knights and Washington Capitals. It was the Golden Knights coming away with the victory to open the series, defeating the Capitals, 6-4, in Game 1.

The Memorial Cup title game featured the QMJHL Champion Acadie-Bathurst Titan against the host Regina Pats. Acadie-Bathurst, and Flyers prospect German Rubtsov, finished off a tremendous playoff run, winning the Memorial Cup with a 3-0 victory.

The Marlies scored early in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and took Game 4 by a score of 3-1, completing a sweep of the series to head to the Calder Cup Final. The Phantoms season came to an end.

Sam Morin left Game 4 of the Phantoms series against Charlotte and it was confirmed that he is out with a torn ACL. The timeline for his return puts him on track to be available around February 2019, several months into the upcoming season.

Matthew Strome and the Hamilton Bulldogs won two of three Round-Robin games to advance to Friday night’s semi-final. German Rubtsov and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan also won two of three games and by virtue of goal differential tiebreakers, advanced automatically to Sunday’s Championship Game.
