Forward Matthew Strome, drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft, signed an entry-level deal with the Flyers on Thursday, according to GM Ron Hextall.

The Flyers are certainly flirting with an epic collapse, from comfortably in the playoffs to fighting for their playoff lives every night. With 12 games to go, what will it take to lock down a playoff spot?

With Tuesday’s news of Brent Celek being released by the Eagles, Flyers captain Claude Giroux vaulted to the top in the list of Philadelphia’s longest-tenured athletes currently playing in the city.

The Flyers signed forward Maksim Sushko to an entry-level deal. Sushko was selected in the fourth round with the 107th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Scott Gordon is currently in his third season with the Phantoms and will be behind the bench for much longer. Gordon signed a contract extension to remain the Phantoms head coach.

The Flyers were closing in on at least one hard-earned point against another Western Conference team when a lost puck battle led to the game-winning goal for the Vegas Golden Knights. For the Flyers, it was just another game that got away, a growing trend here in March.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Flyers, as a stretch of four games in six days begins with the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, who are starting to heat up at the right time again.

Now that the Flyers are comfortably in the playoff picture, it’s time to see where they stand up against tougher competition. This week will provide plenty of opportunity to prove they belong among the top teams in the conference and the league.

This is only the beginning on a very difficult month of March ahead, and that continues with one of the hottest teams in hockey looking to make an improbable run back into the playoff picture. The Flyers close out a weekend back-to-back against the Florida Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

For the Flyers, the chance for a new streak begins against the Eastern Conference’s best in the Tampa Bay Lightning, winners in five of their last six games. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

The Flyers were probably due for a game and result like this, but a new standard has been set for how the Flyers should approach a game and play and the team didn’t live up to it in front of the home crowd on this night.

The Flyers were 8-11-7 after a 10th straight loss on Dec. 3. They have gone 26-8-3 since to not only move comfortably in the playoff race, but also challenge for the Metropolitan Division title.

A 1-0 shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens coupled with Washington’s 5-1 loss to Columbus moved the Flyers into first place in the Metropolitan Division as the Flyers finished off a dominant February on an all-time high note.

Petr Mrazek turned in his best start in his young career with the Flyers, stopped 28 shots through 65 minutes and then another four in the shootout as the Flyers claimed a 1-0 win via the shootout over the Montreal Canadiens to climb into first place in the Metropolitan Division.

Aside from adding veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya through waivers, the Flyers remained quiet at the deadline. GM Ron Hextall met with the media following the deadline and focused on the team’s current success while noting that prices were just too high to warrant a deal.

The Flyers face the Montreal Canadiens, this time on the road, for the third and final time this season, with each of the first two matches coming earlier this month.
