Four of the Flyers next five games will come on the road, starting with Tuesday night’s meeting with the struggling Detroit Red Wings.

The Flyers announced on Monday that forward Michael Raffl will be out for two weeks with an upper-body injury.

The Flyers scored three goals in the second, highlighted by Oskar Lindblom’s first NHL goal, and three goals in the third, two by Wayne Simmonds, to claim a 6-3 win over the Washington Capitals on Sunday night at Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers play host to the Metropolitan Division leading Washington Capitals, who carry a two-point lead into Sunday’s game. 

A 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets has the Flyers recent free-fall pressing on, while Columbus’ surge puts them on the cusp of overtaking the Flyers in the standings. New Jersey and Florida are all knocking on the door too, as the Flyers spot in the playoffs burns to a crisp.

Forward Matthew Strome, drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft, signed an entry-level deal with the Flyers on Thursday, according to GM Ron Hextall.

The Flyers are certainly flirting with an epic collapse, from comfortably in the playoffs to fighting for their playoff lives every night. With 12 games to go, what will it take to lock down a playoff spot?

With Tuesday’s news of Brent Celek being released by the Eagles, Flyers captain Claude Giroux vaulted to the top in the list of Philadelphia’s longest-tenured athletes currently playing in the city.

The Golden Knights got a goal from Ryan Carpenter with 2:40 left in the third period while Marc-Andre Fleury made 38 saves to give Vegas the 3-2 win over the Flyers on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers next game is the final one in a series of tough tests, as they face the Vegas Golden Knights, making their first trip to Philadelphia in franchise history.

That’s now four straight losses for the Flyers, who are suddenly going through the motions of these games and falling into some of the same bad habits that led to a 10-game losing streak back in November.

The Pittsburgh Penguins once again handed the Flyers a familiar result, defeating the Flyers for the third time this season, 5-2, at Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. 

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Flyers, as a stretch of four games in six days begins with the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, who are starting to heat up at the right time again.

Now that the Flyers are comfortably in the playoff picture, it’s time to see where they stand up against tougher competition. This week will provide plenty of opportunity to prove they belong among the top teams in the conference and the league.

Comcast Spectacor announced on Monday that the Wells Fargo Center, home to the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers and NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, will undergo an extensive, multi-year redesign as their next phase of renovations.

This is only the beginning on a very difficult month of March ahead, and that continues with one of the hottest teams in hockey looking to make an improbable run back into the playoff picture. The Flyers close out a weekend back-to-back against the Florida Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

For the Flyers, the chance for a new streak begins against the Eastern Conference’s best in the Tampa Bay Lightning, winners in five of their last six games. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

The Flyers were probably due for a game and result like this, but a new standard has been set for how the Flyers should approach a game and play and the team didn’t live up to it in front of the home crowd on this night.
