Darrelle Revis Slams Mark Sanchez: ‘We Didn’t Have a Quarterback’
(Sportsnaut/Jesse Reed)
Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez and the current New York Jets' corner were teammates in 2009 and 2010. The Jets were defeated by the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers in the American Football Conference Championship Game in both seasons, with final scores of 30-17 and 24-19 respectively.
In an interview with SI.com, Revis recalled the following about this stretch and his former quarterback:
“We almost made it, and we didn’t have a quarterback …. Mark was solid. He wasn’t elite.”
Sam Bradford, QB
NFL Head Coach: Sam Bradford should be a backup QB
(FOX Sports)
In an interview between ESPN's Mike Sando and an anonymous NFL head coach, every starting quarterback in the league was ranked on a Tier-based system.
The Philadelphia Eagles' Sam Bradford was ranked by this unnamed coach as either a Tier 3 or 4, which would be the 23rd-best overall.
According to this system, Tier 3 quarterbacks are good enough to start but need lots of support, making it tougher to contend at the highest level. Tier 4 quarterbacks are typically unproven starters or those who might not be expected to last in the lineup all season. …
"I thought he was a 2 coming out because I did not see the big arm," said the head coach, per Sando of ESPN. "No one could tell from his pro day because [agent] Tom Condon wouldn't let him throw any deep comebacks. He has the intangibles, but you have to give him a 3 or 4 just because he is always hurt."
NFL Analyst Mike Mayock: Eagles Are Better Because They Upgraded QB And Secondary
(GCobb.com/Garry Cobb)
“So I thought [Sam Bradford] was one of the most accurate quarterbacks I’ve ever seen on tape coming out of college,” Mayock said about Bradford in 2010 . “There’s no denying his arm strength and his accuracy. The only issue is durability, and it’s a significant one. So I think the Eagles rolled the dice a little bit and said we can protect him better. We’ve got a better offensive line and we’re gonna run the hell out of the ball, which is a quarterback’s best friend.”
