Two top Phillies prospects Jesse Biddle and Maikel Franco, both currently in Double-A Reading have been selected for the 2013 Futures Game (played during All-Star Weekend) at Citi Field in New York. It's long been a great event that showcases some of the best prospects in the game. Biddle (ranked by many as the number one prospect in the system) will be pitching for the USA Team while third baseman, Franco will play for the World Team.
In 79.1 innings pitched (14 starts), Biddle currently stands with a 3.29 ERA, 91 strike outs, 42 walks, and a 1.197 WHIP.
Franco has really made a name for himself between Class-A Clearwater and a recent promotion to Reading posting a line of .316/.363/.604 and really cleaning up production wise with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 46 runs scored.
Definitely two of the more exciting players in the Phillies system to represent the squad in the game since Domonic Brown appeared in the 2010 contest and two of the more exciting figures in a farm system that has been a shaky since the Hunter Pence trade.
