Billy Wagner, Mike Sweeney join Curt Schilling as ex-Phillies on Hall of Fame ballot

The 2016 Hall of Fame ballot was released by Major League Baseball on Thursday.  The big name on the ballot is former Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago White Sox outfielder Ken Griffey, Jr.   Griffey is likely a lock, but he may be the only one.  The ballot has three (and kinda a fourth) Phillies player.

The former Phillies include Curt Schilling, who got votes in 39% of ballots last year and continues to remain on the ballot.   Former Phillies closer Billy Wagner, a dominant closer for much of his career with the Houston Astros, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and Phillies, has also joined the ballot.  Also on the ballot is Mike Sweeney, the long-time Kansas City Royals player and one-time Phillies fan favorite.

Luis Castillo spent Spring Training 2011 with the Phillies before getting released.  He never played again in the Major Leagues.
