B.J. Rosenberg Sent to AAA, Jeff Manship Returns From DL

Following tonight’s win over the Brewers, the Phillies announced that right-hander B.J. Rosenberg was being sent down to Triple-A Leigh Valley. Jeff Manship will replace him in the bullpen as he is coming off the disabled list. Rosenberg struggled in his return the big leagues, giving up at least a run in three of five games. This season Rosenberg is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA over 12 innings in 13 games.

Manship was the long man for the Phillies entering the season and was injured on May 31 trying to beat out an infield single in extras, which would have won the game for the Phillies. In that outing, Manship was perfect over four innings, striking out six batters. The Phillies went on to lose the game, 5-4, with Antonio Bastardo giving up a run in the 14th inning. Manship on the season is 1-1 with 5.89 ERA over 18 1/3 innings in 16 games. It is possible Manship could get some work in tomorrow’s game with Roberto Hernandez getting the start for the Phillies.
