Philadelphia Eagles defensive-end Brandon Graham joined Chris Steuber and Geoff Mosher on the latest edition of ESN Radio to discuss Chip Kelly, Jim Schwartz and a host of other topics.
His most interesting answer, however, came when he was asked by Mosher if he would be upset if the team drafted a young quarterback as opposed to retaining Sam Bradford. After giving a fairly generic answer to the initial question, he, without being asked, produced a third option.
"I like the reports of (Nick) Foles coming back because I thought Foles was pretty good, man. I woulda' took him to run our offense this year, too. At least keep both of them (Foles and whichever quarterback the team would draft), or something."
Later in the interview, Graham touted Foles' toughness, which certainly was one of his best attributes.
Various beats in the area have denied Adam Schefter's reports about the Eagles potentially being interested in bringing Foles back, though it is hard to entirely discount Schefter, especially when he reports something numerous times.
Graham would also note in the interview that while he thinks defensively the Eagles could stand to add some more depth to both the defensive-line and the linebacking corps, he believes the biggest area of the need is 'the back-end'. He noted that his reasoning for thinking the secondary was the biggest area of need was that both Walter Thurmond and Nolan Carroll, both who began the season as starters, are impending free-agents.
Mosher reported this morning that Eagles' brass is expected to meet with Thurmond's representatives at the NFL Combine later this month to discuss the 28 year-old's future with the team.
Regardless, the Eagles need to continue to add depth to a secondary that was essentially an entirely new unit in 2015 – save for Malcolm Jenkins – and a switch from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3 defense only makes that a bigger priority.
And they may need to figure out that quarterback thing, too.
