On Saturday, the Eagles released a player from a position of depth in order to make room for the signing of Josh McCown.
The team moved on from receiver Braxton Miller, who had also been discussed as the emergency backup quarterback just days earlier.
Ultimately, the team said Greg Ward Jr. would have been the emergency backup and Miller’s chances of almost zero to crack the 53-man roster or practice squad were his undoing.
Miller may be the only receiver whose name was never mentioned in connection with a big catch or diving catch in camp, but that didn’t stop other teams from wanting to give him a chance.
Just four days after his release, the Cleveland Browns have signed the former quarterback, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.

Miller has just 34 catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns in his four season in the NFL. He also reportedly refused to play special teams, leading to his release from the Texans last season.
Miller was a quarterback at Ohio State who transitioned to wide receiver for a better chance at making an NFL roster much like fellow Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor had done a few seasons earlier.
