WOW! According to sources, in a stunning move, the Philadelphia 76ers have traded star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans minutes after the Pelicans took Nerlens Noel #6 overall.
Noel was at the top of most mock drafts, but slid to the Pelicans at 6, probably due to the uncertainty behind his recovery from a torn ACL he sustained in February. Noel is not expected to be back from the injury before December.
The stunner here is that new general manager Sam Hinkie just traded the assumed "franchise player" for a player who's future is a question mark. Many will speculate the possibility that the Sixers are eyeing the number 1 pick in next year’s draft, as Andrew Wiggins will almost assuredly be the consensus number 1 pick.
The trade is not official yet, but there will be more on this trade and the Sixers pick at #11 coming soon, stay tuned.
