According to Braddock, the deal is front loaded, with the first year paying Maxwell $13.5 million, making him one of the highest paid corners in the league. However, the remaining deal will pay Maxwell approximately $9 million per year, which is a much more reasonable number.
No one else has confirmed or denied the report, so take this news with a grain of salt. We will update as more news come out.
UPDATED (5:16 pm): ESPN.com has confirmed that Byron Maxwell is signing with the Eagles.
"I'm going to Philly" he told ESPN.com.
The Eagles made it clear they were going after Maxwell, and all that talk about free agents not wanting to sign with the Eagles seems to be off base. Maxwell might not be worth the money he is getting, but he instantly upgrades one of the worst secondaries in the league.
