In news that can only be described as shocking if you've lived under a rock for the last year, Heisman trophy winner and National Championship runner up Marcus Mariota has reportedly decided to forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. According to a report by ESPN, the announcement should be made later this afternoon.
Now that Mariota is going pro, expect the speculation to reach an all time high over whether the Philadelphia Eagles will trade up to draft Mariota. Once pegged as the consensus number one overall pick, notable draft experts such as Todd McShay and Trent Dilfer have suggested that Mariota might drop in the draft, leading to further speculation about whether a Chip Kelly and Mariota reunion is possible.
While his NFL future is up for debate, there can be no doubt about his collegiate career. Mariota finished the season with 4,454 yards and 42 touchdowns, and is one of only four college football players to finish his career with over 10,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards.
