Philadelphia 76ers training camp gets underway September 22-25 and the preseason is right around the corner. This week, we learned that the Sixers organization was holding second interviews with two external candidates, signaling that they could be zeroing in on some finalists. In addition to the two external candidates, the Sixers met with a number of internal candidates over the last couple of weeks.
Head coach and interim general manager Brett Brown spoke to reporters on Wednesday and told them that he expects a new GM to be in place before the start of the season.

The Sixers have been searching for a new general manager since the departure of Bryan Colangelo. He resigned after it was revealed that his wife was operating secret Twitter accounts that foreshadowed trades and talked poorly about current/former staff members in the front office in addition to players.
The pair of external candidates include Utah Jazz assistant general manager Justin Zanik and Houston Rockets vice president of basketball operations, Gersson Rosas. Internally, the Sixers spoke with Elton Brand, Ned Cohen, Marc Eversly and Alex Rucker about the GM vacancy.
After telling the attendees of his media lunch that he expects the general manager situation to be resolved before the season begins, Brown mentioned that he has an idea of who the person will be and that he's ideally looking for a "consistent partner". Brown said that he has had a big role in the process of hiring a new GM for the Sixers.
