On a rather lengthy list of transactions this morning the Phillies announce that Domonic Brown has been placed on paternity leave. Aaron Altherr has been recalled from Double-A Reading to take his spot on the roster.
Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has been activated off the 60-day DL and assigned to Reading. Gonzalez has pitched quite well since starting his rehab assignments and for the time being is working out of the bullpen.
Mike Adams has been transferred to the 60-day DL which will keep him sidelined until early August. Finally, Wil Nieves will begin his rehab in the Gulf Coast League.
Also breaking on the international signings beat, MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez reports that the Phillies have agreed to sign 16 year old switch hitting shortstop Arquimedes Gamboa out of Venezuela. Gamboa is ranked 15th on MLB's list of top 30 international prospects.
