This afternoon at 1:05, the Phillies look to rebound from a 7-6 loss yesterday against the Red Sox, as they host the Twins at Bright House Field. David Buchanan looks to build on his already strong spring stats while former Met starter Mike Pelfrey gets the nod for Minnesota.
Buchanan will toe the rubber for the fifth time this spring. The rotation is still up in air with Jerome Williams and Aaron Harang recovering from small injuries, so Buchanan could find himself as high as number two and as low as number four. So far in Grapefruit League action, Buchanan has thrown 11 innings and given up just three runs, good for an ERA of 2.45. He gave up one run and struck out six in his last start against the Rays.
Meanwhile, Mike Pelfrey will take the mound for his third outing of the spring. In nine innings of work, the veteran right-hander has given up one earned run. His last time out against the Red Sox, he gave up one earned run in four innings while striking out five.
