It is quite the career change. After serving in the Phillies front office since the 1998 season, Ruben Amaro, Jr. will reportedly be joining the Boston Red Sox. He will reportedly be first base coach, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
A report earlier this offseason suggested that Amaro was selling himself as a MLB manager. To do that, Amaro will have to do time as a coach.
Others have moved from the front office to the coaching staff. Scott Servais just went from the Angels front office to manager of the Seattle Mariners. Former Phillies catcher A.J. Hinch made a similar move, but he had previously managed.
