The Eagles quarterback of the future is preparing to officially sign on in the NFL.

Carson Wentz, the second overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Eagles two weeks ago, is expected to sign with the team on Thursday as he arrives in Philadelphia ahead of OTAs, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

Wentz was among the highly-touted quarterback prospects in the Draft this year, coming off two straight national championship seasons with North Dakota State University.

In his senior season, Wentz threw for 1,651 yards and 17 touchdowns with four interceptions in eight games with the Bison.

Wentz is expected to make $26.67 million on his first deal, which will last four years and include a fifth-year option, with $17.6 million coming in signing bonuses, Werder reports. The projections are based off of 2015 rookie contracts in addition to the 2016 salary cap for teams. Wentz is subject to a fifth-year option because he is a first-round pick.

The signing of Wentz marks the last of the Eagles 2016 draft picks to officially sign with the team. Offensive linemen Isaac Seumalo and Halapoulivaati Vaitai signed last Friday while the rest of the draft picks signed several days prior.

Wentz is expected to spend the 2016 season learning more about the NFL system behind Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel.

OTAs are scheduled to begin for the Eagles on May 17, next Tuesday, and Phase 1 will run until May 19. Phase 2 will run from May 24-26 and Phase 3 will run from May 31 to June 3. Mandatory minicamp takes place from June 7-9. Training camp is expected to begin around the middle of July.
